Perry Bell Online Guitar Lessons - "No Limitations"Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Students
Introduction to Perry Bell Online Guitar Lessons
As you seek out guitar lessons and instruction for advancing or starting your music conquest, take into consideration a couple of things I feel are important. First, you can learn something from anybody and everybody, which means we will all be students for life, as long as we are willing to learn. My goal is to create a web site that has a huge comprehensive library of information for every level of ability that can be reflected on at any time. I address theory, arpeggios, scales, Chord structure, key signatures, time signatures, scales, sequences, styles etc. Each video will have a beginning section and advance accordingly. If you know your scales, you will advance and maybe skip some of the beginning sections. Otherwise, it could take you a couple of months to make it through the first section. I want you to understand and teach yourself how to organize and apply information. You will become your own teacher and your own player. Everyone has different motor skills and coordination capabilities. Mine were average, so it took me longer than most to become halfway proficient. Many of our teachings are built around breaking down barriers and limitations. I also thought it would be a good idea to have friends from different styles show off their skills and help build you repitoir of chops. I wanted a musicians exchange with video capability so you can understand what people have to offer and help bring musicians together. I wanted the most advanced player to come to the site and be able to walk away with more than he entered with. I wanted the beginner to say, this is how I did it as he interviews backstage on his world tour. It is a growing project that is being built with interaction in mind. NoviceThe online guitar instructional lessons from Perry Bell are structured to aid players of all levels. The goal is to advance as quickly as possible without falling into the usual pitfalls of a structurless routine and lack of information. As a novice, their are a couple of key points that will help mitigate these handicaps. Good technique, a well rounded knowledge of scales, chords, arppegios along with a structured practice schedule, will catapult the average players ability in a fraction of the time he may find else where. Another important compnent is learning at a pace that is suitable for the practicing player. This site is built for constant access for review and progression. You can learn at your own pace, weather it be slow or extremely fast. You don't have to wait until next weeks leeson to see if you were doing something right, remember what was taught or learn something new. As a fan of music, this site works towards educating musicians on a core theoretical level and on a style or genre level. The facts are the same no matter what style of music you chose to play, the only difference is each style of music breaks the rules in different ways. We want you to be playying and performing as soon as possible. We will help cut that time down with a diverse group of musicians that explain what works for them and teaching you how to take in information and ultimately become your own teacher. We are all students learning from each other. We just want you to have a solid platform to build off of. Our motto is "no limitations." IntermediateAs an intermediate player, first we must be honest with ourselves. We have to answer the easy and hard questions. What are our strengths on the guitar? The answers may range from I'm fast, rhythmic, I understand scales, modes, sight-reading, chords, ear-training is excellent, I can play all the parts to every Avenged Sevenfold song at the same time as well as the 24 caprices of Paganni at speed, I look good, I sound good. No matter what the answers are, write them down. Now, the hard question, what are my weaknesses? You can add I'm not good at one, some or all of the previous mentioned. The reality is, if you are not good at something, it will take time to improve it. You can start now or next year. If you start now, by next year the other guy will just be getting started. But when next year rolls around, he probably won’t start then because he is too busy impressing friends with his eruption solo he learned 20 years ago. This site is in constant growth mode. We have surrounded ourselves with people who are interested in helping guitarists become functional attributes to music. We want to break down barriers of creativity. It’s hard to be a creative artist with one color of paint. Sure, you may create one or two good ones, but that is a limited way of expressing yourself. We want you to have the tools we didn't have when we were learning. Some of us had to go to the music store for sheet music. We had to go to the store to buy a record and slow it down by hand to figure out licks. The only transcriptions of our music were by piano players that gave us vocal melodies with the overall chord change. Now, you can see multiple interpretations on YouTube. If you were fortunate enough to have a guitar teacher who knew anything, you still only got 1/2 hour each week. The lucky ones got an hour. Enough of the walking uphill both ways to school in the snow stories, but it is the truth. Constant access to information 24/7. Sign me up AdvancedWhat is an advanced player. As in any discipline, progress comes in very small increments over a long period of time. What we have found is when you or playing great and feeling great, you are really at a plateau. When you feel like you are horrible, you are actually progressing and making strides. If you feel good and can play no wrong notes this week, we salute you. We are also ready to push you when you feel like you’re starting over. I have collected many different warm up, scale, arpeggios, chord, ear training and speed exercises to keep you entertained. |
